Motor Controller (JPL-1085A)

This Motor Controller (code: JPL-1085A) is build around TDA1085C ntegrated circuits from Motorola, OnSemi etc etc. Many manufacturers produced this very successful integrated circuit over a long period of time.
The circuit board, measuring 120 x 70 mm, is equipped with THD components because I created it for teens who want to learn how to solder components. The controller can either be powered by a regulated DC +15V power supply or directly from the AC mains.

Only one diode 1N4007 and a power resistor 6K8/5 Watt are needed to power the controller from the mains.
The motor speed is controlled with a variable resistor or with resistor dividers, which can, for example, be switched via a rotary switch. The desired speed can be measured based on the voltage at the speed control resistor. The actual motor speed is measured by the pulses received from the motor tachometer.
