The project BH1017A with the designation "Harlequin 7" is a Color LCD monitor with GPIB, CAN-bus and RS232C for general purposes. It can be used in many areas for measurement in the field, laboratory or as a control instrument for automation and robotics. Harlequin 7 has standard interfaces such as GPIB, CAN bus, Ethernet and serial RS232C. For data and user commands is a 7" color touchscreen LCD display available. Harlequin 7 has five slots for testing adapters that are inserted from rear. Each test adapter has a size of 160 x 100 mm.

The next photo shows the Harlequin 7 LCD monitor connected to the desktop computer HP9825A and running Impedance Analyzer software. The HP9825A controls the test instruments via the GPIB bus, collects the measured data, and forwards the data to the Harlequin monitor.

I developed this software to quickly test various RF components. It features standard "Z" and "Y" planes of the Smith chart and calculates all important values. The next photo shows a detail of the LCD screen with the complete Smith chart.
